Recalls (8)

  • ENGINECampaign 18V934000 · 28/12/2018

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Sonata and 2013-2014 Santa Fe Sport vehicles previously repaired under recall numbers 15V-568 and 17V-226. The high pressure fuel pipe that connects to the fuel pump outlet may have been damaged, misaligned, or improperly torqued during the engine replacement procedure, allowing fuel to leak from the pipe.

Risk: A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.

Fix: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pipe, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began March 1, 2019. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's recall number for this recall is 180.

  • SEAT BELTS:PRETENSIONERCampaign 18V137000 · 27/02/2018

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2013 Sonata and 2011-2012 Sonata Hybrid vehicles. On February 27, 2018, Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) notified NHTSA that they were recalling 154,753 model year 2011 Sonata vehicles. On April 18, 2018, Hyundai expanded the recall to include an additional 425,305 model year 2012-2013 Sonata and 2011-2012 Sonata Hybrid vehicles. In the event of a crash, the air bag control unit (ACU) may short circuit, preventing the frontal air bags, seat belt pretensioners, and side air bags from deploying.

Risk: If the frontal air bags, seat belt pretensioners, and side air bags are disabled, there is an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants in the event of a vehicle crash that necessitates deployment of these safety systems.

Fix: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will install an external wire filter kit, free of charge. The recall began October 15, 2018. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 174.

  • AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOWCampaign 12V352000 · 24/07/2012

Hyundai is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Hyundai Sonata passenger cars, manufactured from January 24, 2012, through June 21, 2012. The curtain side airbags on these vehicles may inflate without deployment command due to an error during manufacturing.

Risk: The curtain airbag may inflate without deployment command and increase the risk of injury to occupants of the vehicle. Additionally, an unexpected deployment would be a significant driver distraction and would limit the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Hyundai dealers will notify owners, and dealers will replace the curtain side airbags free of charge. This recall began on August 31, 2012. Owners may contact Hyundai at 1-800-633-5151.

  • POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONCampaign 14V434000 · 18/07/2014

Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2011-2014 Sonata vehicles manufactured December 11, 2009, through May 29, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the transmission shift cable may detach from from the shift lever pin.

Risk: If the transmission shift cable detaches, the transmission gear selection may not match the indicated gear and the vehicle may move in an unintended or unexpected direction, increasing the risk of a crash. Furthermore, when the driver parks the vehicle, despite selecting the 'PARK' position, the transmission may not be in 'PARK.' If the vehicle is not in the 'PARK' position and the parking brake is not applied, there is a risk the vehicle will roll away as the driver and other occupants exit the vehicle or anytime thereafter. A vehicle rollaway increases the risk of injury to exiting occupants and bystanders.

Fix: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, repair the connection between the shift cable and shift lever, free of charge. The recall began in September 2014. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's number for this recall is 123.

  • EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS:SWITCHCampaign 15V759000 · 16/11/2015

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model 2011-2012 Sonata vehicles. The brake pedal stopper pad can deteriorate allowing the brake light switch plunger to remain extended when the brake pedal is released.

Risk: If the brake light switch plunger does not retract as it should when the brake pedal is not being pressed, the brake lights may stay illuminated preventing accurate communication to rearward following vehicles that the vehicle is slowing or stopping. Additionally, if the brake switch plunger is not retracted, then the transmission can be shifted out of PARK without depressing the brake pedal. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.

Fix: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake pedal stopper pad with an improved part, free of charge. The recall began on January 6, 2016. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-671-3059. Hyundai's number for this recall is 136.

  • ENGINECampaign 15V568000 · 10/09/2015

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Sonata vehicles manufactured December 11, 2009, to April 12, 2012 at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama and equipped with either a 2.0 liter or 2.4 liter Gasoline Direct injection engine. In the affected vehicles, metallic debris may not have been fully removed during manufacturing of the engine crankshaft. If the debris was not completely removed, oil flow may be restricted through the connecting rod bearings, causing connecting rod damage. A worn connecting rod bearing will produce a metallic, cyclic knocking noise from the engine and possible engine failure.

Risk: Engine failure would result in a vehicle stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Fix: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace the engine assembly, as necessary, free of charge. Additionally, Hyundai Motor America will increase the warranty for the engine sub-assembly (short block) to 10 years/120,000 miles for both original and subsequent owners of 2011 and 2012 Sonatas manufactured at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama equipped with 2.0 liter and 2.4 liter Gasoline Direct injection engines. Interim notifications were mailed to owners starting on October 8, 2015. A second notification will be mailed when parts are available. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-671-3059 or by visiting www.HyundaiUSA.com/Campaign132. Hyundai's number for this recall is 132.

  • SEAT BELTS:FRONT:ANCHORAGECampaign 17V152000 · 08/03/2017

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Sonata and 2011-2015 Sonata Hybrid vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the seat belt linkages for both front seat belts may detach from the seat belt anchor pretensioners.

Risk: In the event of a crash, if the seat belts detach from the anchor pretensioners, it can increase the risk of injury.

Fix: Hyundai will notify owners and dealers will inspect the connection between the seat belt linkages and the seat belt anchor pretensioners, repairing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin April 7, 2017. Owner's may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for the recall is 160.

  • SEAT BELTS:PRETENSIONERCampaign 17V617000 · 04/10/2017

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2011-2014 Sonata and 2011-2015 Sonata Hybrid vehicles previously repaired under recall campaign 17V-152. The seat belt linkages for both front seat belts may detach from the seat belt anchor pretensioners.

Risk: If the seat belt linkage detaches from the seat belt anchorage, it can not properly restrain the occupant in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Fix: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will again verify the connection between the seat belt linkage and the pretensioner and additionally install a warning label to prevent future seat belt linkage detachment, free of charge. The recall began November 6, 2017. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 169.

  • 12/31/2022· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING

My tail and brake lights sometimes work sometimes doesn't. Rear window brake light stays illuminated when car is turned off causing battery to drain. This problem has been on going for years. I can sometimes wiggle bulbs and make them work for a while but problem has been persistent for too many years. Tired of replacing bulbs.

  • 12/31/2020· ENGINE

I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. THE CAR STARTED KNOCKING NOT RUNNING WELL. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP THEY STATED I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE BECAUSE IT HAD SEIZED. THE REPAIR SHOP ALSO STATED THEY HAD REPLACED 20 OF THE SAME MODEL WITHIN THE PAST 12 MONTHS. WE ARE CURRENTLY WORKING WITH THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY TO SEE IF THEY WILL COVER IT. WE HAVE MAINTAINED THE ENGINE WITH REGULAR OIL CHANGES

  • 12/31/2019· STEERING

WHILE DRIVING AT ALMOST ANY SPEED, AS LONG AS IT IS IN A FAIRLY STRAIGHT LINE, THE STEERING HAS A CATCH IN IT WHEN YOU TRY TO EASE THE CAR TO THE RIGHT OR THE LEFT. IT FEELS LIKE IT IS STUCK IN A RUT AND YOU HAVE TO TURN HARDER THAN EXPECTED TO BREAK IT OUT OF THAT RUT. THIS CAUSES INSTANCES OF OVERSTEERING. THIS CAN'T BE SAFE AT ALL!!

  • 12/31/2013· STEERING

MY 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA STEERING IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, IT IS PULLING TO THE LEFT AND REQUIRES CONSTANT CORRECTIONS. IT IS VERY UNSAFE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND DOES NOT WANT TO STAY IN ITS LANE. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP TWICE IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS, ONCE FOR AN ALIGNMENT AND ONCE FOR CHANGING THE SETTING FOR THE ELECTRIC STEERING. I INFORMED HYUNDAI OF AMERICA ABOUT MY PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THE CAR SHOULD BE WORKING AS IT SHOULD AND THAT IS ALL THEY CAN DO. *TR

  • 12/30/2019· STRUCTURE

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE DASHBOARD WAS CRACKED NEAR THE AIR BAGS. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HYUNDAI DE FAJARDO (LOCATED AT KM 51., PR-3, FAJARDO, 00738, PUERTO RICO), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.

  • 12/29/2025· ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing excessive oil consumption, which required the oil reservoir to be refilled after 3-4 weeks. Additionally, there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that upon taking the vehicle to Jiffy Lube for a top off, the mechanic would inform the contact that the oil reservoir was empty and needed to be refilled. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 158,000.

  • 12/29/2024· SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

In October of 2023, I was driving my 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid to the laundry mat about a quarter of a mile from my home. I stopped at a stop light and all of a sudden, a warning sound burst from my dasher board. The message stated, "Hybrid Warning-DO NOT DRIVE: CHECK BRAKES". The brakes completely stopped working, the pedal was to the floor and the accelerator was stalling. After managing to get the vehicle back to my home, naturally I went to the Dealership (Langdale Hyundai of Valdosta) and informed them of the issue. They informed me there was no issue, charged me for a diagnostic and sent me on my way. Once I provided proof of my car stopping mid-drive, they began to check wiring and such. What they told me the issue was is a Hydraulic Power Unit. I had it replaced, still the same issue "CHECK BRAKES". I only have 116k miles on this car, bought it with 72K in 2021, so I haven't driven it much. It spent 8 months in Hyundai Dealership in Holiday, FL for a brand-new Hybrid Battery in 2022. I have been looking online for anyone that knows more about this issue so I can get it resolved. It turns out there are thousands of people who are just like me. I believe this is indeed a recall issue. I believe this is an issue is an emergency issue, brakes giving out while driving is an issue that needs to be addressed. This has been happening for years, and Hyundai has not done one thing on it. It's happening with newer vehicles as well as older. Langdale Hyundai of Valdosta was not much of a help at all, to be honest, I don't trust their workers at all. I believe they do nothing and charge customers for the max that they can.

  • 12/29/2016· STEERING

WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT THERE IS A LOUD CLICKING NOISE REGARDLESS OF WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED OR DRIVING. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FROM EVERYTHING I'VE READ FROM PEOPLE AND EVEN THE DEALERSHIP KNEW EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL DUE TO SAFETY REASONS. IF THIS PART GOES OUT THERE IS A CHANCE SOMEONE COULD LOSE CONTROL OF THEIR VEHICLE. *TR

  • 12/29/2015· ENGINE

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V568000 (ENGINE) WAS RECEIVED IN OCTOBER OF 2015. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE GIVEN. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

  • 12/29/2013· SERVICE BRAKES

WHEN I WAS BRAKING, THE PASSENGER FRONT BRAKES MADE A HORRIBLE METAL ON METAL SOUND. I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT THE BRAKES (TO FAR FROM A HYUNDAI DEALER). THE MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS. THIS. HAS GONE ON FOR MONTHS. I HAD THE BRAKE PADS REPLACED EVEN THOUGH THE ORIGINAL PADS WERE STILL GOOD. I FINALLY TOOK MY CAR TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER WHO EXPLAINED TO ME (THE ROTORS WERE EXTREMELY RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED) WHAT, THIS SOUNDS LIKE A MANUFACTURING ISSUE. NO, I HAD ALL ROTORS REPLACED AND NEW BRAKE PADS ALL THE WAY AROUND. GUESS WHAT, STILL MAKING THE SOUND IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. *TR

  • 12/29/2012· STEERING

BOUGHT CAR AS NEW WITH 6172 MILES, CAR HAS CONSISTENT PULL TO RIGHT, WHEN TRYING TO MAKE CORRECTION, CAR STARTS TO PULL HARDER. DROVE CAR ON SNOWY ROADS AND WAS UNABLE TO KEEP CAR IN LANE AT A SAFE DRIVING SPEED WITH TRAFFIC, CAUSING ME TO SLOW AND BECAME A HAZARD ON ROADWAY. HAVE TAKEN TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS 4 TIMES BEING TOLD "THAT THIS A NORMAL CONDITION AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG". HAVE TAKEN TO THIRD PARTY REPAIR SHOP, WHO HAS DOCUMENTED A PULLING PROBLEM, BUT UNABLE TO REPAIR DUE TO WHAT THEY DIAGNOSE AS A COMPUTER POWER ASSIST PROBLEM. DRIVE CAR ONLY ON DRY ROADS AND NOT BEING USED FOR DAILY USE DUE TO THIS UNSAFE AND DANGEROUS STEERING CONDITION. *TR

  • 12/28/2023· SERVICE BRAKES

The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to immediately stop, causing the stopping distance to be extended. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 92,000.

  • 12/28/2023· STEERING

The power steering has failed to work on multiple occasions and I’m worried that it may happen during a tight manuver and possibly cause a wreck. This is very dangerous. When this power steering stops working it is way harder to turn than a car with no power at all.

  • 12/28/2016· STEERING

THE STEERING CLICKS WHEN I BACK THE CAR UP AND TURN THE WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION. THIS IS HOW THE PROBLEM STARTED. NOW, OVER A TWO-MONTH PERIOD, IT MAKES THE SAME SOUND WHEN MOVING FORWARD SLOWLY AND TURNING THE WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION. *TR

  • 12/28/2012· STEERING,SUSPENSION

VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO DEALERSHIP 5 TIMES FOR STEERING ISSUE. CAR PULLS TO RIGHT NO MATTER ROAD CONDITIONS, TYPE OF ROAD, OR SPEED OF VEHICLE. CAR SHOWED EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR AROUND 3500 MILES. IN TOTAL CAR HAS BEEN ALIGNED FIVE TIMES, FOUR NEW TIRES PUT ON CAR, NEW STRUTS AND MOUNTS, AND NEW SHOCKS. HAD INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DRIVE VEHICLE AFTER VEHICLE "REPAIRED" FIFTH TIME AND HE SAID THERE IS SOMETHING DEFINITELY WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE'S STEERING. WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY TO INFORM THEM THAT THEIR LAST ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE FAILED. THEY BASICALLY BLEW MY HUSBAND OFF AND TOLD HIM THE CAR IS FIXED. HOWEVER, CAR IS STILL PULLING TO THE RIGHT AND HE IS EXPERIENCING ARM FATIGUE FROM THE PULLING OF THE STEERING WHEEL. *TR

  • 12/27/2017· STEERING

NOTICED KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL LEFT/RIGHT FROM CENTER POSITION. THE POWER STEERING SEEMS TO BE WORKING FINE AND ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. SEVERAL FORUMS AND ONLINE POSTED VIDEOS DESCRIBE THE FLEXIBLE RUBBER COUPLING IN THE MDPS (MOTOR DRIVEN POWER STEERING) ASSEMBLY GETTING WORN OUT WHICH CAUSES THE GEAR TOOTH TO HAVE A METAL-ON-METAL CONTACT. CHECK THIS VIDEO ON YOUTUBE (HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=D7K17LIY6B0) AND OTHER RELATED VIDEO DESCRIBING THE ISSUE AND FIX.

  • 12/27/2016· UNKNOWN OR OTHER

  • 12/26/2023· ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINEFire

I noticed a clicking noise when pressing and releasing the brake pedal that had not been there before. I started hearing that sound 3-5 days ago. After driving to pick up food I noticed smoke coming from the engine area then the car burst into flames. The fire depress called a they put out the fire.

  • 12/24/2020· ENGINE

  • 12/22/2023· SERVICE BRAKES

Several times a week I get "Hybrid System Warning. Check Brakes" that comes with red flashing light on the dash and beeping noise. When I turn the car off, give it a few seconds and restart the car, it goes away. It has mostly been happening when I am parked so it is not an issue to shut it off and restart. Two days ago, this happened while I have driving on the street and when I applied the brakes, it went down to the floor with grinding noise. I was going about 35 MPH and no cars in front of me so I was able to come to a stop on the street with hazards on. I turned off the car, restarted it and the issue went away. I have researched this online and it looks like many people are having the same issue. Many have taken their vehicle to the dealer to get the issue fixed and the dealer is unable to fix the issue because they cannot recreate the problem. I am afraid that this might lead into an accident and feel like something that Hyundai should do a recall on.

  • 12/22/2021· ENGINE

Check engine light started flashing. Drove approximately .5 miles home then towed to Brown's Hyundai of Leesburg dealership on 12/06/2021. Advised on 12/22/2021 Hyundai will not cover repair of engine and said it was not covered by their recall. Dealership described problems as those listed in the recall. "Metal shavings" seen.

  • 12/22/2021· ENGINE

The contact owns a 2012 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH, the check engine light illuminated. I HAD A VERY SCARY INCIDENT FRIDAY NIGHT, 12/18/20 ABOUT 8:30PM. I WAS ABOUT TO MERGE ONTO THE 5 FWY NORTH TO GO HOME, AND AS I AM COMING OUT OF THE TURN, AND ACCELERATING TO ANTICIPATE THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC, I SEE A BIG RIG IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR IN THE DISTANCE. NATURALLY, I STEP ON THE GAS TO PUNCH IT, TO GIVE MYSELF AND THE RIG PLENTY OF DISTANCE AS TO NOT COLLIDE. MY CAR REVVED UP AND DECELERATES TO ABOUT 2MPH . I PANICKED AND MANAGED TO COAST THE CAR TO THE SHOULDER AS FAR RIGHT AS I COULD AND THE RIG BARRELS DOWN PAST ME. I WAS AFRAID TO COMPLETELY STOP ON THE SHOULDER OF THE FWY, AND THE CAR LASTED LONG ENOUGH TO COAST TO THE NEXT EXIT. I AM ABLE TO CONTINUE STEERING MY CAR CLOSE TO THE SHOULDER AT A CRAWLING PACE, AND TURNED ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS. I HAD PEOPLE MAD BEHIND ME, BUT I COULD NOT SPEED UP. I MANAGED TO COAST TO THE NEAREST EXIT, COME DOWN THE RAMP, AND STOP BRIEFLY WITH JUST ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO STEER LEFT ONTO TELEGRAPH IN COMMERCE, AND MY CAR COMPLETELY DIES IN THE FIRST LANE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME MY CAR JUST DIES ON ME WHILE I AM DRIVING! FIRST TIME WAS THREE YEARS AGO IN DECEMBER 2017 . THE CAR HAD INITIALLY DIED WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN. HOWEVER, AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND WAITING A FEW MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR ON AND DRIVE NO MORE THAN 30 MPH TO THE SAME DOWNEY HYUNDAI. THE ISSUE WAS UNDER FULL WARRANTY AND REPAIRED, BUT NOW A SECOND TIME? WORSE YET, THIS HAPPENED WHILE EXCELERATING ONTO THE FREEWAY. I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE AROUND IN A CAR THAT HAS REPEATED RECALLS FOR VARIOUS ISSUES. I ALSO DON'T WANT TO WORRY OF MY CAR DYING ON ME A THIRD TIME. MY SONATA IS CURRENTLY AT DOWNEY HYUNDAI AND THEY HAVE STARTED DIAGNOSTICS AND WILL HAVE A BETTER READING AS TO WHAT HAPPENED. I HAVE LOST ALL CONFIDENCE IN THIS VEHICLE AND WORRIED FOR MY SAFETY AND THAT OF ANY PASSENGERS I MAY HAVE WITH ME.

Driving on freeway and traction control light came on and stays on. Then my car stalls. Additionally, I awakened at 6 am to find my breaks light had been on most the night at no fault of mine. I checked my vin# and being told my 2012 sonata is not part of the recall campaign 136. This is a danger to my life and Hyundai is refusing to correct the problem at their cost.

MY ENGINE THREW A ROD AT APPROX. 85000 MILES (10/2019). HYUNDAI REPLACED THE SHORT BLOCK BUT SINCE THEN I CONTINUE TO HAVE ISSUES WITH MY CAR. AFTER THEY REPLACED THE SHORT BLOCK AND I PICKED MY CAR UP, THE CAR SEEMED TO BE RUNNING LIKE IT IS NOT GETTING CONSISTENT FUEL LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP 4 TIMES BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON. WHILE I AM DRIVING, THE CAR SEEMS TO LURCH AT RANDOM TIMES AND THIS ISSUE HAS GOTTEN SO BAD THAT THIS (WHAT I CALL LURCHING) MAKES THE CRUISE CONTROL SHUT OFF. ONE TIME I WAS USING THE CRUISE CONTROL TO ACCELERATE ONTO THE FREEWAY AND THE WARNING BELLS AND WHISTLES WENT OFF, THE CAR STALLED, THEN RESTARTED ITSELF WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. THE MOST RECENT TIME (10/26/20 - 11/10/20), THEY HAD MY CAR FOR 6 WEEKS, THEY DID NOT FIX IT. THEY PUT 337 MILES ON MY CAR WHILE THEY HAD IT AND I EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT TO THEM SINCE THE BEGINNING, AFTER I DROVE IT 38 MILES. THEY CANNOT SEEM TO FIND WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR OR FIX IT. 10/2019 THREW ROD - REPLACED SHORT BLOCK SEE ATTACHED 1/3/2020 REPLACED HSG BELT - DID NOT FIX ISSUE SEE ATTACHED DATE UNKNOWN - CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF BEFORE THEY COULD RUN CODES.UNABLE TO FIND ISSUES - DID NOTHING NO PAPERWORK 7/3/2020 - UNABLE TO DUPLICATE CONCERNS, PROVIDED SOFTWARE UPDATES. 8/20/2020 I CALLED SAN TAN HYUNDAI AND TOLD THEM I CONTINUED TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. I TOLD THEM I NEEDED A LOANER CAR AS I HAVE NO OTHER MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. I WAS ADVISED THEY DID NOT HAVE ONE AVAILABLE BUT WOULD CALL ME WHEN THEY DID. THEY NEVER CALLED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN ON 10/25 WHILE I WAS OUT OF TOWN SO I TOOK IT TO THEM 10/26. I HAVE PAID FOR 2 RENTAL CARS NOW WHILE TRYING TO GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED. 10/26/20 TRANS RESET RECYCLE CLEARED CODES - DID NOT FIX ISSUE SEE ATTACHED

ONCE YOU PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION THE HORN/ALARM GOES OFF AND DOESN'T STOP. IT ALSO SEEMS TO BE REVVING WHILE IT IS IN PARK. WHILE DRIVING I EXPERIENCE LITTLE POWER SURGES FROM THE CAR WHERE IT ACCELERATES WITH ME TRYING TO DO ANYTHING. THERE WAS ALSO ANOTHER INSTANCE WHERE THE CAR WOULD NOT START ONCE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. ONCE DISENGAGED THE CAR STARTED WITH A LITTLE HESITATION. I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 6 MONTHS AND HAVE HAD TO BRING IT BACK TO THE DEALER AT LEAST 6 TIMES.

It began in 2020; the 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid I've been driving started having issues with the hybrid system. At the time, the car was still under warranty. I took it in multiple times to AutoNation Hyundai in North Richland Hills, TX, because I kept getting the error message "Hybrid System Warning! Safely Stop and Do Not Drive", the car battery would become depleted, and the car would stop. My husband and I would take the vehicle multiple times to the service center at AutoNation Hyundai in North Richland Hills, TX, and nothing was done because, according to their staff, the error could not be duplicated. At one point, they kept it for almost a month, barely driven (we looked at the mileage on the car) before it was returned with no work done on the vehicle. Last June 2021, on a drive to Dallas to take my daughter to her volunteer program at the Dallas Zoo, the car stopped in the middle of the highway for the same problem. I called AutoNation Hyundai in North Richland Hills, and they could not see the vehicle in a timely manner and would not give me a loaner while they had the car in the shop. At that time, I wanted them to check the vehicle's issue and the recall issue that seemed like we were experiencing with the car; it was the only car I had to use to get to and from work and drive my daughter to her obligations, and they could not see it promptly and would not issue me a loaner vehicle. I ended up taking the car to Hiley Hyundai of Fort Worth; they supposedly found a faulty sensor and repaired it, checked it for a recall, and couldn't find the issue at that time. Last night, my car flashed the same error and lost all power. I was on I-35W North with my daughter at the time. I had the vehicle towed after hours to AutoNation Hyundai and called this morning to follow up. I spoke with someone at service, and they told me they could not look at the car until about mid-January and would not be able to give me a loaner in the interim. I tried to explain to the

WHEN I REACHED TO THE TOP OF THE HILL THE CAR LOST POWER AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS/SYMBOLS ON THE DASHBOARD CAME ON. THE CAR COASTED AND THEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES. I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR, TESTED THE BATTERY AND CHECK THE OIL DIP STICK. THERE WAS NO OIL ON THE DIP STICK. SOON AFTER SOMEONE SAID THE COULD SEE SMOKE AND SMELL AN ACRID ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE AUTHORIZED HYUNDAI DEALER. THIS DEALER DOES MY VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND OIL CHANGES.THEY TOLD ME THE VEHICLE NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. NOTHING WAS MENTIONED ABOUT THE RECALL OR GIVING ME A LOANER/RENTAL CAR. I WAS TOLD IT COULD TAKE WEEKS OR MONTHS FOR A NEW ENGINE TO COME FROM PR, USA OR KOREA. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER HAS NOT TOLD ME HOW THE PROCESS WORKS. ONLY THAT THE REPAIR WILL BE COVERED AT NO COST TO ME.

The headlights look very dim when on which as well have been changed but still give a dim look. The engine has given out, the last time driving the vehicle was a 60 mile road which it lost velocity momentum and the engine light turned on then it completely shut off almost crashing into a light post.

I paid to get the vehicle towed to Brandon Hyundai in which the did replace the engine and the starter free of charge. I was able to continue to drive my vehicle everything seemingly fine. Fast forward to late 2023 the engine light is back on, I’ve taken my vehicle to Hyundai dealership several times relating to the engine light being on each time having nothing resolved in regards to this matter with Hyundai stating theres no one there who’re able to inspect the engine. My oil light has remained on for a number of months in 2023 I’ve had to get an oil change several times this year and Hyundai isn’t able to explain as to why the vehicle isn’t retaining oil.12/15/23 around 11 pm the vehicle began to make an unfamiliar noise, stall, jerk and not accelerate.
